Brass Choir
The CSB/SJU Brass Choir is a large chamber ensemble specializing in brass ensemble performance. The Brass Choir has the unique identity of being the most visible instrumental ensemble on campus through its yearly performances at Christmas as Saint John’s, Celebrating the Season, and the commencement ceremonies at both CSB and SJU. Membership in the ensemble includes music majors and minors, as well as number of students from a wide variety of other disciplines. All members represent the finest brass musicians on campus. The Brass Choir plays a varied historical repertoire, from original contemporary works for brass to Renaissance and Baroque transcriptions. In 2009, the group toured to the Bahamas, their first major tour outside of Minnesota. In 2018, the Brass Choir was accepted to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Association (MMEA) Midwinter Clinic on February 15, 2019.
The Brass Choir meets weekly on Tuesday’s from 4:25 - 5:55 p.m. in D-040. Interested students may enroll in Brass Choir by reregistering for MUSC 242 for 0 or 1 credit.
