Local Living Process for Fall 2024 Housing Selection

Rising seniors who are interested in living off campus in St. Joseph or the surrounding area may choose to participate in the “Local Living Process” that will take place during room selection this spring.  Similar to selecting housing to live on campus, eligible rising seniors in their living groups of four people will have the option to select “local living” as their housing assignment for the upcoming year.  Local Living selection will take place on April 8, 2024. A limited number of “Local Living” spaces will be available.

Students interested in participating in the "Local Living Process" are strongly encouraged to meet with Financial Aid before participating in selection.  Selecting "Local Living" as a housing assignment might result in a reduction of a student's financial aid.

Students are strongly advised NOT to sign a lease for an off-campus rental property prior to confirming their selection for local living for the upcoming fall semester.  Making an early commitment to a lease agreement with an off-campus rental property prior to the local living selection process is not grounds for exemption to the residency requirement and will not change anything in regard to the local living selection process. In addition, be advised that failure to select desired or preferred housing during the housing selection process does not warrant a release from the residency requirement.

Students unable to select off-campus housing must choose on-campus housing but are able to place their names on the off-campus housing waitlist.
