At the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University, Instructional Technology can provide consultation and support for teaching by integrating media literacy and innovative technology into courses and other academic environments for the acquisition of knowledge and skill. Our department's equipment and training resources, creative spaces and software tools can help provide new opportunities for many learning applications. From hosted technology classes and workshops to multimedia software support and project advice, Instructional Technology is here to help.

MEDIA & INFORMATION LITERACY

The CSB and SJU Libraries partner with Instructional Technology to support classroom media projects. Our objective is to foster media and information literacy by expanding on traditional intellectual skill sets to include the ability to create messages and express ideas using multimedia technology.

Our award-winning team of Librarians and Instructional Technology Specialists have developed “sequence” documents to guide these collaborations with instructors. By partnering with the library to ensure information literacy is at the heart of what we do, we integrate innovative technology into the curriculum using our joint learning outcomes which support our institutional and Integrations Curriculum learning goals.

AWARDS & SPECIAL RECOGNITION

In April 2020 a team of Librarians and Instructional Technology Specialists at CSB and SJU were awarded the Minnesota Library Association's Minnesota Academic Innovators Award. Kelly Kraemer, Adam Konczewski, Ethan Wittrock and Sarah Gewirtz received this award in recognition for their work combining instructional technology with information literacy values.

In October 2020 the collaborative work of Instructional Technology, librarians and faculty was featured in the "Peers you can connect with" section of the EDUCAUSE 2020 Student Technology Report: Support the Whole Student - Technology Use and Environmental Preferences (sub-section #3).
