About CSB+SJU

Family Medical Leave, Parental Leave, and Other Leaves

Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), benefit-eligible employees are entitled to family medical leave for qualified family and medical reasons, including the birth or adoption of a child. Family medical leave is available after twelve months of employment for employees who have worked at least 1,250 hours in the twelve months prior to taking leave. See the U.S. Department of Labor's "Employee Rights Under the Family and Medical Leave Act" poster and their FMLA FAQ page.

In addition to family medical leave, benefit-eligible faculty and staff may receive paid parental leave. Basic information on both FMLA and parental leave is available in the CSB and SJU employee handbooks on SharePoint (access by going to the Human Resources homepage, click the "Human Resources Intranet" link, and select "Handbooks" on the right-hand side of the page).
